Sri Ayutthaya

Sri Ayutthaya… that quaint wooden place somewhere on the way to Damansara Heights / Bangsar or better identified as ‘next to Victoria Station’. It was years of curiousity that brought us to try it out and we weren’t disappointed.

Not quite sure what the “Beyond the Ordinary” was for.

We had the Green Curry Beef, Lychee Roast Spring Chicken, Fried Soft-shell crab & a Seafood Tom-Yum to share. More often than never, Tom Yum goes to waste. Also ordered a ‘Coconut & Lychee Ice Blend‘ and an amazingly sour Lime Juice. It was as though they’d forgotten he concept of water and sugar.

The Green Curry was good and thick as it should be. The soft-shell crabs were delicious in it’s delicate batter and the spicy sauce that came with it was excellent. We both loved the Lychee sauce that the roasted spring chicken was sitting in, but the meat was slightly overcooked. ( I dislike breast-meat so I’m biased ).

The Tom-yum was good, I’m probably too used to the usual paste-based soups you get in the mamaks nearby so the stuff here was pretty fresh. Even the rice was light and fluffy.

Slightly pricey but well worth it, even if we did get a Bangladeshi waiter that kept on telling us he’s new. Service was prompt and with smiles.

Some weird Thai decor.

Testing Yein’s brother’s camera capacity to snap through tinted glass. We were sitting on the balcony upstairs and I’ve got to say, it wasn’t such a cool idea. It got rather warm especially after the spicy food.

Side-effects of the Tom Yum. We killed 2 cats, 12 mat-rempits a scrawny dog and an inebriated drunk.

All in all, it was pretty good. Of course for that price, one might easily find just as good food & service elsewhere but we enjoyed ourselves and went home satiated (slightly bloated for me).
