Bangkok 2010

3rd February til 10th February 2010

Day 1

bkk01

On the way! Departure @ 1:40pm Malaysian time so being Chinese, we were there at 11:30am.

bkk02

Just before entering the immigration. Our first camwhoring of the trip!

bkk03

There was this throng of people sobbing and sending their loved ones off. Makes me recall my own experience being sent off to Melbourne except for the fact that no one cried, passed out or anything… I AM SO UNLOVED!!! Bah!…

bkk04

At the departure hall awaiting our gate to open. At the time of this picture, we were actually at the wrong gate thanks to me misreading the boarding passes. I would also like to add that the departure hall does ‘not’ have any drinking water fountains so there is no point in smuggling in empty bottles. Everything costs more there so DO eat before you wait.

bkk05

Our tiny ass plane. This is my first time flying AirAsia and the first time being on the runway itself. It was hot an uninspiring. Two little engines on a plane makes me worried.

bkk06

A little blond kid the asian moms were going crazy over at the departure hall. Even YY was excited over his adorableness factor. It was a coincidence that we actually sat next to the mom so YY had a fun time messing with him.

bkk08

The kid is restless and here he is overpowering YY’s camera.

bkk07

Whats a flight without pictures of the SKY? The trick to snapping pictures of the sky without your camera’s reflection is to tilt your camera at an angle… or open the damned window for a better picture.

bkk09

The first sign that we’re in Bangkok.

bkk10

WE’RE IN BANGKOK!!! ZOMG!

bkk11

I think this guy was an Amish or at least, he fits my idea of one. Whatever he was doing on a plane, I’ll never find out.

bkk12

YY now has her very own flight horror story. Her travel luggage came back with the wheels broken off. Upon bringing up the matter at the AirAsia counter, they offered to fix the luggage OR compensate her 600Baht (RM60) which was ridiculous so we let them fix it.

bkk13

Alex Yoong can quit his racing career or at least take lessons from the crazy taxi drivers of Bangkok.

bkk14

On our way to dinner except the taxi driver got lost. We were looking for the famous Somboon Seafood Restaurant but never made it. In the end, our driver had to pass us off to a Tuk-tuk (bike-cab hybrid) to continue the rest of the journey.

bkk15

View from the Tuk Tuk.

bkk16

The TukTuk driver told us the real Somboon was closed for the coming Chinese New Year and that he would bring us to a branch. Big fat liar he was,… he brought us to some other Seafood joint that was probably giving him commissions of sorts. The place was full of white tourists being fleeced but we decided to make the best of it. This was the first official meal we’re having in Bangkok.

We had the Tom Yum Kung, Pandan Chicken, Fried Oysters in Egg and Rice. It came up about 930Baht (RM103)! Truly a tourist joint.

bkk17

Pandan Chicken… ~meh…

bkk18

This oyster with egg reminds me of that old uncle at SS2 Indomie. This omelette was pretty good and the use of the hot plate actually made the sides of the omelette crispy which was a plus.

The only other plus was the fact that the Suan Lum Night Bazaar was nearby and was on our list of places to visit so we managed to nix that one off the list. Managed to get some loot there.
