Global Game Jam 2010 OvaH!

The Game Jam is over!

48 hours of smelliness, junk food and bleary eyes has come to an end and the results are in! 4 playable demos from 4 teams. 16 participants and 8 pizzas perished in the making. Organized by IGDA Malaysia Chapter and sponsored by MDeC, this year Malaysia joins the game jam with the rest of the world to celebrate the act of 'just creating for the heck of it'. With no prize, limited time and an assortment of skillsets, we were locked down to complete any game based on given objectives.

Zaid, Me, Syimi and Buzz

Many thanks to the team that worked on Team De'Bug for making it an effortless collaboration. Hasyimi thought of an excellent idea for a platformer and we worked from there! Buzz, also the coordinator for the entire event did a massive job with the place and the free food and drinks. Zaid, an excellent programmer who slept little and worked his ass off. Check out our game here at the Global Game Jam 2010 website.

Using real images of Hasyimi, we plonked him in a 'digital' world full of retroness and platformy goodness. There he goes looking for the bugs in his 'programming world'.

aliencake
Umar, Robert, Joseph & Kyle

The team that worked on Alien's vs. Cake, the only 3D game at the game jam. Great job on the visuals and inspired programming.

Their game is available to try here.

sway
Krishnan, Khin-Jon, Nikko & Yungs

The most 'tech-demo' ish game at the game jam would go to these guys for their bug munching flower game. Click here to download their game.

Ra & Fireant

styles

Examples of what I'm attempting, currently I've messed around with an egyptian theme with some royal flavour I'm naming "Ra" as well as a sleeker model I'm calling the "Fireant". I would love to greatly manipulate the different component parts further like adding a flame-thrower nozzle and tube on Fireant. I'm really curious how far I can push my design sense which has been moldering in the closet.

On another note, I've just signed up for the Global Game Jam under the Malaysian Chapter of IGDA led by Buzz. I see Reande and the lot are already signed up and YY is going to kill me as I burn away another weekend doing 'guy' stuff! Being a part of Malaysia's first Game Jam on Jan 29-31 seems like a worthy cause and would also earn me some street cred.

There seem to be not much community based around Bloodbowl except for their official forum and a few smatterings of fans out there. Its an awesome game with a heckuva steep learning curve!

Painbringas!

bb_killem

The only way to deal with the basterd Skavens are to mutilate as many of them as possible. At movement rates of 9, they can cross the field and score a touchdown in a single turn. This here was my most joyous moment having removed more than half their team from play. Orks for de' Win! Go Painbringas!!! WAAAARGH!

Hentai Usagi Toss

Decided to put up this little game us lads at GMD have made for a recent ACGC event.

Introducing Hentai Usagi Toss.. where ACGC Chan tosses the perverted pink bunny across the exhibition hall. Don't ask me why... its just something that happens.

Go and play it already! http://portal.acgc.com.my/arcade/play_28/

Buzz did the coding in Flash and I prepared the visuals,.. can't say very much about the UI though. Live and Learn,.. live and learn.
